[ #030066... hm. It's not a hexcode that Momo recognizes, but that won't stop Momo from responding to the message as if he's speaking to an old friend. Emoticons and all. ]

press 'x' to ask for a super funny joke press 'y' to ask for an impromptu hangout session
[ he doesn’t want to hang out with momo, but this might be some kind of trial that he needs to complete before he can speak with him. actually, he has no idea what kind of person momo is, except “nosy.” and nice. ]
[ Ah, earnest traveler. He's meeting a lot of people who mistake levity for a challenge; on one hand, it's endearing. On the other, it's mildly distressing.
He breathes a laugh on his end of the screen. ]
okay, okay
(σ´・∀・`)σ "why don't they play poker in the jungle?"
[ dextera really spends a while thinking about this, trying to come up with some answer, but there’s nothing especially logical about the progression of jokes. so, after a long pause, he offers a simple response. ]
[ Two candy canes and two graham crackers carefully nestled in wrapping paper that's been folded over and tied with a thin strip of fabric in lieu of a ribbon. It's not an extravagant gift, but still, a gift is a gift! Jion has it carefully tucked in his pocket as he makes his way down the streets.
He wanders around enough that he has a vague idea of where a lot of people live, and he's pretty sure he's seen Momo head in this direction before ... but was it this house, or the next one over?
After a moment's consideration, he ends up surreptitiously trying to peek through the window. He feels a little bad about it, but it's just a quick look to see if he can catch a glimpse of Momo, hopefully that'll be fine! ]
[ Lucky Jion— Momo is in, and he's on the first floor of his run-down townhouse, elbows on his living room table with his attention tipped downwards. The object of his scrutiny is difficult to discern from an awkward vantage point. Just a smooth outline of something framed.
Momo's brows are drawn, his shoulders squared. Something about him is shoestring-taut, ready to snap or unspool at a moment's notice; his throat bobs with a breath he'd been holding, and it's only when he tips his chin and tries to find a familiar stain on the ceiling that he notices that there might just be someone watching him from out in the cold.
A beat, and he fractures into a smile. Waves, as he gets up from his perch on his worn-down chair. ]
—Jion! Haha, I thought you were Santa for a second, there.
[ Muffled, since he's talking with the windows still closed. ]
[ Oh cool, he's here! Jion raises a hand to rap at the window to get Momo's attention, but then freezes -- because he notices the weird tension in Momo's shoulders, the way his movements seem stiff. It's so at odds with Momo's usually chipper demeanor that he hesitates for a moment, and then he's caught in that posture, hand still raised awkwardly to knock at the window, giving a slight start when he sees Momo's usual smile. ]
Oh. Um, hey! I, uh. Had something for you.
[ His voice peters off as he gives a little wave with his raised hand, then drops it, trying to smile but not quite making it. ]
But um, if you'd rather, then I can ... [ 'Come back later,' he considers saying. But that doesn't feel right? There's a pause before he blurts out, ] -- I can give it to you through here! The window! Um, it won't take long.
[ He can't bring himself to demand to be let in right now, but ... something tells him just heading back right now wouldn't be the correct choice either. ]
[ Momo's running on half-batteries right now; it shows. He's a little rumpled, folded and creased like a napkin used and reused between meals— when he smiles, it's with a tinge of fatigue that angles his brows just enough that he looks troubled.
Still, he grapples with the edge of his window and pulls it up to let the cold air in. Chin angled, he sighs. "What am I gonna do with you?" ]
What? Oh, come on. You don't think I'm that mean, do you?
[ Ironically, asking that question is a little 'mean' of Momo. He seems to realize it, because he switches gears. ]
—Come in! It's the least I can do for you, since I definitely wasn't expecting a present...!
[ It helps to have a Persona inside to caution her about new and unusual things cropping up around the town. A single glance at the thorns had filled her with such visceral dread that Maya had heeded Artemis' warning and done her best to stay clear of it.
But she's seen what's been happening to everyone else. Sudden swings in mood, up and down. Fevers, nausea, listlessness, exhaustion. She's done what she can with a healing spell or five, but it doesn't entirely seem to fix the problem, and Maya's still not sure what kind of remedy this will end up requiring.
Still. Because she's been kept busy, she hasn't had time to check on everyone, and some people she's yet to see around, so when she gets a chance to catch her breath...
She sends a message.
She's just tired from healing, she tells herself, as her head aches. She's fine. ]
Maya to Momo! Do you copy? How's the health? Over.
[ From one bad health month to another bad health month. Momo's learned by now not to take these lapses in personal management personally anymore— this town is hellbent on making him feel lousy, and there's not much he can do about it but make the best of what he's given.
So. Here he is, bundled and tired, checking for messages on his laptop.
Maya always delivers on a good time; he smiles when he sees her pop up on his screen. ]
momo to maya! i copy! (`・-・´)/
the health could be better, but i'm still my cute momo-chan self!
[ This is the kind of thing other adults probably would have rolled their eyes over, but it makes Maya smile that he's playing along. It doesn't really tell her much about how bad he's feeling, because she gets the feeling Momo would still be using emojis and happy lingo on his deathbed, but at least it means he's still conscious.
Good. ]
If I was working SUPER super hard, I wouldn't have the time to be typing to you!
And since it's not super super hard, I think I can take a little more time to come check on you in person.
Better than a phone call, right? I'm so much better when I'm more than a voice!
[ Pry Momo's emojis from his cold, dead hands, tbh.
That said, he's always thankful for the type of person Maya is— which is to say, the type of person who seeks contact instead of avoiding it when the going gets tough. ]
momo-chan worries, because maya's an overachiever! ε-(´・ε・̥ˋ๑)
haha, just kidding though
let's definitely meet up! bonus: you can still feel super productive, because you'd be helping me out (≧∀≦) you'd be healing my tired heart
